Is your dog not jumping like before? Does your cat think twice before climbing onto the sofa? Don’t worry: they’re not being lazy… they’re just getting older!
Just like us, as they age, some parts start to wear out: joints creak, vision gets blurry, reflexes aren’t what they used to be… But what many people don’t realise is that behind those “normal” changes there could be treatable health problems.
And here’s the good news: “Ageing is not a disease”. But it does require special care.
At Eurovet Veterinary Clinic, we’re launching this campaign because we want our senior furry friends to keep enjoying life with energy, dignity and—most importantly—without pain. Because age brings wisdom… but it should never bring suffering!
From the age of 7 (or even earlier in large breeds), dogs and cats enter their senior stage. This stage brings more than just grey hairs: it also involves physical and metabolic changes that can go unnoticed without close monitoring.
In this phase of life, conditions such as osteoarthritis (affecting joints), cataracts (progressively impairing vision), or dental disease (which can affect overall health) are common. Hormonal or metabolic disorders like hypothyroidism or diabetes are also frequent. In some older animals, we also see hearing loss or signs of senility linked to neurological ageing.
Most importantly: none of these conditions is a life sentence… if caught early. With proper veterinary care, your pet can continue to enjoy a full life, free of unnecessary discomfort.
A geriatric consultation is not just a routine check-up: it’s a thorough exam tailored to the needs of senior patients. It includes:
All this helps us detect problems before they appear and take action early to improve their quality of life.
From 1 September to 31 October, Eurovet Veterinary Clinic is running a special geriatric health campaign for older dogs. The goal? To detect what age may be hiding… and help you care for them better.
By booking a B-profile blood test (blood count + 12-parameter biochemistry)*, your pet will receive:
