Eurovet reminds you that this disease is still vigorous and really dangerous. That’s why you need to be careful.
This viral disease is delivered because of a bite. Even a single scratch or the saliva can cause the infection… The incubation period lasts between 10 days and several months. Make sure that you don’t have wounds, even a little on the skin. The disease is still mortal for human beings if nothing is done after the arrival of the first symptoms. The contamination
All the pets with hot blood can be contaminated. In France, a 65% of the treatments administered to human beings are initiated after a contamination because of a dog. Contaminations due to cats represent 20%, and when wild animals represent a 9% of these infections, only 6% are caused by other domestic pets like the ferret.
The infected pet presents various symptoms as psychomotor excitation, furiousness, rage and paralytic behaviors. These symptoms can also take different aspects, getting worse time after time. The pet dies 3 or 6 days after the infection.
Wash immediately the bite. And apply next disinfectant to the wound (Betadine). It is compulsory to identify the pet which caused the infection (to take it to 3 visits to the vet and next to give it a treatment). This is compulsory even if the pet is already vaccinated. The first visit tends to occur during the same day of the infection. The second one has to be done a week later. Finally the last one tends to be done after 2 weeks, even if the pet is no longer infected.
